Karen Palevsky, M.A. is a Career Counselor with particular expertise in
career assessment and advisement, resume, CV and cover letter writing, job search strategizing, counseling and
support. Karen manages a private practice with a diverse client base
encompassing professionals, managers and executives in both the corporate and
nonprofit sectors. She is also an adjunct consultant with Lee Hecht
Harrison, a leading outplacement firm.
An intuitive listener and compassionate counselor, Karen is sensitive to
personal and social issues that may be affecting an individual’s career choices
and job search. Her comprehensive knowledge of the world of work and job
opportunities has been acquired through experience in career and outplacement
counseling, human resources management, and executive search. She has worked for
both corporate and nonprofit organizations including Merrill Lynch, Newsweek,
St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Center, and the New York Association for the Blind.
Karen has also developed and delivered career management workshops on a variety
of topics. These include: "Clarifying Your Career Goals", “Resume
Strategies for Career and Life Transitions”, “Effective Job Search Strategies”, ” Job Search After 50”,
“Interviewing Your Way to a Job Offer”, “Networking Do's and Don'ts”, and “From
Diapers to Databases – Transitioning Back to Work”. Her article,
“Writing Powerful Resumes”, has been featured in trade publications. She
has also contributed resumes to "Expert Resumes for Baby Boomers", JIST
Publications, 2006. Karen has been featured in articles in the New
York Times and Time Out New York.
Karen holds a Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and a
Certificate in Adult Career Planning and Development, both from New York
University. She is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor under
the Professional Career Counselor category. Karen is active in her
profession and is a member of the International Association of Career Management
Professionals, the Career Development Specialists Network, the American
Counseling Association, and the Career Counselors Consortium, where she serves
on the Board of Directors. |
